I have numerous anxiety disorders- and next week we are taking a tent camping trip with our 3 daughters. While I camped when I was younger- being a mom and a super high anxiety level has been giving me sleepless nights already.

We are going to a park camping- where I often camped growing up. I don’t ever remember having problems with bears there- just at other locations in northern michigan when we camped. Anyways- when I called the park office to inquire about the bears- I felt so silly and irrational- that I was almost hysterically laughing when I asked if they had bears- so after that question, i thanked the young man and hung up. I am now wishing I had asked more questions. He did say “We are next to the woods, so there can be bears”

I’ve been up there recently visiting some family camping- and almost everyone (that i remember) has campers and pop-ups. I don’t remember anyone or very people were in tents. We cannot afford a camper, nor can we afford to rent one right now- and we do have a very nice 10 person tent we have used before. But sleeping in a tent with the possibility of bears is freaking me the f out – to be honest.

(1) Should I call the park and inquire more about the bears? (How often do they come to the campground- etc…)

(2) Would I be better off paying 10 dollars more a night to camp at a location more south of where I am where they don’t have bears? (peace of mind)

(3) If we do camp there- where would be the best place to camp to put the less likelyhood of a bear visiting our campsite? The campside is surrounded by a winding large river on two sides and the other two sides are a national forrest. Would we be better off camping as close to the river as possible- farther away from the woods as we could? Should we camp near other tent campers? My fear is that people in trailers aren’t worried about the bears- and that they will leave food or something out to attract the bears and then they will come to our little measly tent next door.
(4) Please don’t laugh- I know this fear seems irrational- because all fears are- but to me it’s a very real fear.
ok this is where i get paranoid- i realize bears are attracted the food/scents. Because the campground isn’t in bear country (northern michigan or the UP) and it’s classified as “occassional bear sightings” on the DNR map- they don’t have bear proof food storage lockers. People just leave their coolers etc sitting outside their campers. So this is why I am a little freaked out and considering finding somewhere more southern where its even less of a threat.

Cleaning Journal #1

Here is my first entry in the challenge to myself to clean for 4 weeks and record my reflections of doing it. I’m an ex non cleaner who suffered for being un organized and hording both symptoms of anxiety.

Tips:

How can i cure my anxiety – i’m already getting counselling?
I have been diagnosed with a mild case of anxiety by my doctor, who didn’t tell me anything to help myself get better.
I currently have counselling when i have things to discuss and want help.
I write poetry and in a journal to express feelings, but even though i’m doing these things nothing is happening.
Any help of what else i can do?

Keep yourself busy! Try to stay occupied. When you have bad thoughts or anxiety try to breathe in deeply and exhale slowly. Exercising helps keep one’s mind healthy as well as body.

But most often, academic journals are associated with writing classes because they help the students become better thinkers and writers.
An academic journal is a mix of the diary and class notebook. They are also called learning logs because it records the writers perception of the business of learning, reactions to readings, and ideas for papers.
The diary is a record of everyday events whereas the class notebook is the record from the day’s lessons and lectures. The academic journal is the cross of ideas between the diary and the class notebook.

III. The Process (You can try this for practice)

1. Free write a journal about “The Environment”

Write for 5 minutes.
Write for 3 minutes.
Write for1 minute.

2.Timed Journal writing (for 10 minutes)

Select another title/theme.

3. Select a writer or a blog publisher who is known for having written a journal. Write a report for the purpose they served.

4. Compile your journal entries for one month and bind into a booklet.

Is there a medication to help dogs with separation anxiety?
Our 8 month old Lab has terrible separation anxiety, he chews anything he can, even started ripping the skirting from a couch. he has another dog for company, plenty of chew toys etc.. We adopted him from the pound when he was 3 months old.
I do leave the tv on and he has food cubes, he gets plenty of play time and excercise. I think he gets mad because I leave. I do not want to crate him, but it might come to that. Thanks for the advice.
I know that considering medication is extreme, but I feel we are at that point with him, unless we can try something else. Thanks for your info.

I have heard of a homeopathic medicine called “Rescue remedy” that is supposed to help calm pets and people.

If he is just bored, try getting one or two of those “food cubes” that you put dry food in and the dog has to work to get it out. That should keep him busy for a while.

Also try leaving a radio or TV on while you are gone –it may make him think someone is home.
